Girl With The Flower

Hi y'all I just returned from my trip to Tennessee yesterday evening and while I have tons of stuff I want to share with you, I thought I'd start this weeks blogging by highlighting Zoe Schlacter, a seventeen year old accessory designer from Nashville. In addition to her style blog, Girl With The Flower, Zoe makes and sells "head art," decorative headbands and cuffs. As you can see from the pictures above and below, Zoe Schlacter is quite fond of Frida Kahlo. So much so, that her designs are reflective of Frida's style.

Zoe has had her designs featured in Teen Vogue (December 2009) and keeps her blog current which serves as sort of a visual diary for both her creativity and her designs.

She was raised by creative parents, with whom she lives and her mother whom shares a studio with, encouraged her to explore her creativity. Zoe collects colorful flowers, seashells, plastic animals, googly eyes, and anything else that inspires her or that she can incorporate into her "head art."

Like most teenagers with a creative bent, Zoe dresses as the "creative' everyday and is attracted "to all things shiny, bold, and visually exciting: color, glitter, rhinestones, jewelry, makeup, bold clothing, bright textile designs, interesting accessories". Wearing her own creations and clothing created by her friend and fashion designer, Raphaela Tayvah, a student at George School, she shares her passion with Zoe for fashion apparel.

Zoe herself will be heading to school this Fall as she plans to attend the Rhode Island School of Design.

I wish Zoe much luck and success in her future endeavors.
